We are really excited about a new idea. We’re currently putting together a community based project, Hopping Down in Kent, which is being supported by the Arts Council via the Creative People and Places “Ideas Test”.
So what is it? We’re creating a multimedia production based around hop picking in Kent. It’ll be a show with songs, poetry, visual images, audio clips and more – all about the picking of Hops, its history, its importance to the people of Kent.
And we want you to be involved! We are looking for people to join the project. We are looking for singers to form a choir/chorus for the show as well as musicians who want to play along. It’s a community production so no previous musical experience required. The key thing is enthusiasm!
Perhaps you’d like to help us with:
- ideas for songs
- joining the new choir
- technical expertise, e.g.back projection of images or video clips
- writing some poetry/prose
- any other ideas
Come along to find out more at one (or all three) of our workshops:
- Thursday September 3, Alexander Centre, Preston Street, Faversham – 7.30pm
- Thursday September 10, Alexander Centre, Preston Street, Faversham – 7.30pm
- Thursday September 17, Alexander Centre, Preston Street, Faversham – 7.30pm
This will lead up to a small trial production in October. If this goes well we want to upscale it to full production next year. So please join in. It’s still under development and all ideas welcome.
